I think this ruleset defeats the whole purpose of having a shoutbox.

Instead of locking the main communication tool for players on this site, why dont you, the admin team, just create a single line above everything else which contains the latest, most important announcements with a link to the full post? Something like "UPDATE 2011/12/21! Fixed several bugs and balance issues. Read more >here<"

Shoutboxes were invented for conversation and chatting (which is why usually EVERYBODY has access to them), thus i think they should be used that way.

Any thoughts on this matter or is it just gonna be "admin says, fuck the rest*"?

*rest = community. and you cant afford losing anyone  facetroll.gif

Introducing Shout Box Rules is necessary due to the nature of our game. There are players that are definitely minors. And, there are users that actually have no correct language and that post contents that are deemed as totally inappropriate.

We actually do not change our behaviour towards the shout box, but have set a base of acceptable rules, that we would need as foundation for deleting shout box posts.

It is supposed to support the efforts to communicate will all users fair, polite and equally.

Just because I don't care, doesn't mean I don't understand!

"Shoutbox rules:
The shoutbox should be used for anouncements and important requests or other information to Admins/Moderators."

Starshooter removed 5 shoutbox posts earlier. So are users allowed to post to talk to eachother or not? if not - screw that. Rules yes, but completely disallowing users to post there if there is not an emergency...thats retarded IMO.
