SL server no longer running?

I am back to play a bit of SL but the server hasnt been online for a while

any reason? or just me?

Yep the server has gone down  since a few months. We are focusing on CL now.

The reason was lack of players and lack of cash to keep it going

I do, yes, but then very few of the current players have been around long enough to know SL, in its hayday, 32 players on every evening..... about 5 people sat outside spam clicking connect, hoping that someone will leave, good times

trying to get into a mod called bay city now

looks really good includes the ford crown victoria  to play as civ is free, but to play BCPD or BCFD you have to donate $5 per month (same system with shops etc i think  ) no worries though they need to keep the server going somehow

LOL. Bay City is a bunch of noobs, hated by basically everone in the ArmA/2 modding and mission-making community. Their first version was based on taking all of City Life's files and calling it Bay City..

yes ive heard a bit about this but city life seems to have closed to arma 1 users and bay city looks just as good maybe better

Bay City has a consistent track record with stealing and rebranding models from SketchUp and CityLife.  They also have a history of harassing competition, even legitimate shops.

Also 'borrow' code (Which could be OK as there are many free scripts, just look at Spooner's on Armaholic) but it seems they don't bother giving credit in videos or where it should be.
