im not going to be playing anymore either (unless more servers upgrade to 1.18 or SL downgrades to 1.14) because not many people use the latest version and i am now in a clan called Silent Warriors but i might come back someday

You can maintain both versions by simply making two installations, if you have ~4-5gb of extra space of course.

Install ArmA (eg: C:\ArmA114)
Update to 1.05
Update to 1.08
Copy installation (eg: C:\ArmA114) onto another disk (eg: G:\ArmA118 or C:\ArmA118) or into another chosen location.
Update to 1.14
Move main version (eg: C:\ArmA114) to (eg: C:\ArmAREG) or somewhere else.
Move copied installation (eg: C:\ArmA118) to where the normal one was. (eg: C:\ArmA114)
Update to 1.18.
Move copied installation (eg: C:\ArmA114) back into place (eg: C:\ArmA118)
Move original installation (eg: C:\ArmAREG) back into place (eg: C:\ArmA114)
Install mods, move mod folders when needed, copy mods from and to if necessary
Make shortcuts to each executable.  Hover over arma.exe's to show version tooltip, or simply launch and look on the screen for the version.
