The level System - Bobadila's Ideas

  • The level system should stay, but instead of the price in new levels going up each time. going from 100k to 500k in like... 7levels, is too expensive. Maybe, the cost of purchasing a new level should remain the same no matter how many levels you buy! Perhaps, $250,000 per level, UNTIL you reach a total level of 100, then t goes up to $500,000. If this was implemented, maybe people wouldnt moan of much as they are.
  • Earn skill points (like workplace job points); if, for every 20mins you sit in a STAR truck (or the like) you earn one vehicle skill point, or to make sure people arnt going idle in the trucks, do it for every 5miles YOU drive (not workers or someone else). then for every 10miles you drive in car, you earn one skill point. Its higher for cars because they are easier to drive?
Im not sure how to do the same for weapons though, because it will encourage spreekilling or ammo wasting. So im kinda stuck on that one..
Thanks for reading my ideas ;). I feel strongly on this as i cannot afford to buy a new level for 500k, and then spend 600k on another, because it just gets ridiculous :)

If we were to use the same system, like firearms use.. then maybe have the skill only increase if you are firing at the range?

issetea i would really suggest that you add some of USA TV's suggestions, they are all relitively simple ( just a guess, not a scripter ) and wouldnt require any more addons, plus they would add to the RP greatly. :D

What would the general opinion be for players to have their bank account suspended by the police if they meet certain standards, e.g. only Chief of Police can or the person must have a bounty higher than 25K.

Not water tight I know, but is the basic concept something people could work with, with or without changes?

Well, knowing I'm new and everything, but from what i seen is 1.66 was fun and 1.67 is alright. But what Bob is saying makes sence. You cant depend on ONE way to "Level up". Instead of making the prices for buying items go up every level, why dont we do this. Such as Bob was saying, every 5 miles you drive in a Skoda, should probably give you one more level for driving. You know how you do the lisence thing for rifles/pistols? Why dont you put something else in called shooting range. Give someone the option of what to use (depending on their level). Such as, if i was a level 15 with weapons, i could choose say all pistols or M16 A1s throught M16A4s without scopes, same with the M4A1 Carbine. Say i took a M9, witch could be standard pistol for the shooting range, i would have 8 rounds to try to hit the targets that pop up. Put maybe 3sec per target and the shooter would have to hit them in the given time. And if he/she are victorious, then they should resive 1 level towards weapons. Strength for example could give you credit for levels by walking a mile with a certain amount of weight on your back. I disagree with having to BUY levels, why not be able to BUY skill points, at the same time being able to physicly do it without waisting epic amounts of money. Just throwing that out there. Hope for the best for version 1.68

I think you are confusing RPG with MMO.

We don't need a fucking grind-fest which is what you guys are turning it into. Just because the upper echelon think a level system is a good idea doesn't mean it is, a large majority think it isn't a good idea.

Make your minds up, is this an MMO or a Roleplaying Game.

Seems everyone is too busy grinding so they can shoot a pistol in a straight line to do any roleplay. You just removed all the roleplay and interaction because everyone too goddamn busy.

Also guys, address this issue.

Why is it that you buy a license then have to level up? I got my driving licence in real life which meant I was legally allowed to drive my car. When I tried start it. My car started and I drove off. It didn't lock me out and tell me I couldn't drive it because I hadn't paid an extra £40,000 saying I could level it.

It makes no sense, when you purchase a licence ingame it forgoes an actual test but the act of getting a licence would include a test which would mean you are certified to drive/fly/use that vehicle. Having people buy licences and then tell them they can't use the thing they are legally certified to use is ridiculous.

Also how come there are levels for cars? No matter how expensive or extravagant the car is. It still has Clutch, Brake, Throttle.

If you pass a licence test it means you are certified. This just reeks of bad design choice sorry guys.

The level system will stay. ATM you can't get a license without having the needed level.

@ Broni

 :intardnet: Wow.....

"MMO" stands for "Massively Multiplayer Online"

Broni, and eveyrone else who keeps tyring to sya "RP is different form RPG, and MMO is different from both."

The names dont mean crap. Its the type of RPG. :pinch:

Sand box games are those games like Second Life or others where you can do whatever you want whenever you want.

Role Playing Games are games in which you play a role, and have a place in this online "world", no matter how big or small.

Weather your role playing dungeons and dragons with 3 friends, or playing an MMORPG with thousands.

RPGs are the same at the core: You build your character, and play a role in a community.

PLEASE stop trying to say "RP" is different the "RPG".

And to really drive my point home, here is a blatant list of terminology.

RP - Role Playing

RPG - Role Playing Game

MMORPG - Massively Multiplayer Role Playing Game

 :rtfm:

People are complaining about the levels because they cant get what they want RIGHT NOW. Work towards it, put some time into the community.

Now, i will say this: I personally think levels are too expensive to buy. When it gets to the point we are paying 1 mil for 2 skill points, that punches our wallet pretty damned hard. I feel we should be able to gain skill points in other ways.

And broni, where are you getting this data?

Just because a good number of people have complained, doesnt mean its a "large majority" of the players.

Most players I play with are content with the system. Just because your not hearing thier voice doesn't mean they aren't there.

1 mil maybe is a bit too much, but if you say other ways to get Skillpoints, like riding a car to get SP´s for it,why not doing Taxi service or Cargo Services etc.? You will get money to buy skillpoints,by doing what they are for. But youre right, there should be at least one other way to get em.

In RPG youre not roleplaying. Your playing a game where you can create a own character.
In RP You ARE the character.
Instead of "Hi penis12345, Can I buy a gun today?" "Sure, 1k",

You should do "Hi Mr.Kugler, I would like to buy a glock17 today." "Alright, do you already have a licence?" "Yes." "Okay, Sign this paper. It states that the company is not responsible how the gun is used and cannot be charged for any crimes committed using a gun bought from our shop" *Customer signs the paper* "How much?" "1000 dollars" "Thank you!"

As you can see, the 1st one is what we have now.
The 2nd one is the ROLEPLAYING. Robbing a bank is not RP, but the planning, the escape and sharing the loot is.

Roleplay is TALKING, as you call it... Script over RP. RP can be done in a warfare game just by having 10 people willing to do that, it WILL be alot more fun than the "DM" style and will be alot more realistic, organized & Good looking.

Having levels, scripts enforcing (for example non-player-owned Shops, fuel stations, factories) DESTROY RP. You cant RP in an enviroment where you can and MUST Do evrything yourself without loosing BILLIONS of cash. Instead of having a "delivery job" have a player give items like "Repair kit" to a person to be delivered to anader person so he can fix his vehicle.

So SHUT THE FUCK UP, THERE IS, WAS NOT, AND CAN NOT BE ANY ROLEPLAYING IN THIS COMMUNITY WITH SHITLOADFUCK of SCRIPTS.
Problem is the PEOPLE. So what if we will have 6 players? Less lag & More fun.

*sigh*

Spy, I'll just say this.

RPGs, both MMO and offline, were made in the hopes players would Role Play. Thats why its called a Role Playing Game. RPGs were bred from the days of playing D&D board games where the whole point is to act out the roles.

RPGs are justt rying to take one step toward further immersion.

Unfortunately, the average gamer goes on these games, and tries to grind through the levels just to get good gear, to satisfy thier need to be "better then everyone".

Either way, you are argueing semantics.

RPG mechanics in the game does not hurt our RP.

Sure, we will be busy, but we can take time out of our busy time trying to get everything to RP.

I think you guys are too busy worrying about getting every skill so you can do everything, to truely stop and think about what you can do right now.

For example, I like bounty hunting. So, while I make more money to get what I want like air planes, I'm content with RPing a bounty hunter, which all I need is level 1 driving and level 15 wep skill =]

Tell me, what is it you truely want to do in the game?
